BERMUDA INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS ASSOCIATION HOLDS ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING; CELEBRATES 40th ANNIVERSARY OF ORGANIZATION
Announces New Name and New Brand BUSINESS BERMUDA New Brand Reflects Transformation of Organization and More Aggressive International Business Marketing Efforts Hamilton, Bermuda, March 4, 2010 – The Bermuda International Business Association held its Annual General Meeting today at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess Hotel, celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the organization and announcing that it has changed its name to Business Bermuda. The event featured a keynote speech by the Chairman of the Democratic Leadership Council and Former U.S. Congressman, Harold Ford, Jr. Mr. Ford spoke to a large crowd of more than 270 people, which included Premier Dr. Ewart Brown, Deputy Premier and Minister of Finance, Paula A. Cox and numerous other government officials and business leaders. Cheryl Packwood, CEO of Business Bermuda, commented on Mr. Ford’s speech and the Annual General Meeting saying, “Mr. Ford is a dynamic speaker and delivered a strong message about the current political dynamics in the United States and the challenges and opportunities facing the broader international business community. We were pleased and honored to have him in Bermuda and appreciated his sincerity and candor during his visit. He told us that in response to the current issues we need to dialogue with US Government officials and ensure that decision makers were fully informed.” She added, “This was an incredible celebration of the 40th Anniversary of our organization which enabled us to honor the contributions of so many wonderful people in business and government, reflect back on the growth and success thus far and allow us to unveil our new name and new brand for the next 40 years of business in Bermuda.
